Bunnies are featured in so many children’s books it would be impossible to list them all in this space! There’s the famous “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” by Beatrix Potter, “The Velveteen Rabbit” by Margery Williams and one of my childhood favourites, “Little Grey Rabbit’s Christmas” by Alison Uttley.
Don’t forget the song “Peter Cottontail”, made famous by Gene Autry, that crazy Rabbit in “Alice in Wonderland” and that traditional “Bunnykins” children’s tableware by Royal Doulton.

All these bunnies are so cute and lively. I’ve tried to capture the essence of their characters in this little pattern.

Bunny can be made in most fabrics, but caution must be taken if using pile fabrics such a velvet or those which ravel very easily (some silks). Bunny stands 13 ¼” including ears, 9 1/2” for just his body.

My bunny has not been embellished. But you are free to create him however you please. Perhaps you wish to add a touch of smocking in an area such as the soles and upper arms. Or maybe try a little crazy quilting, paper piecing, trapunto, Boutis Provençal, Sashiko stitching, Seminole or log cabin to name just a few. How about shadow embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery, applique, or reverse applique, tucking, heirloom laces, whitework or cutwork. It all depends on what you would like. There is no limit to creativity!
Maybe a nice big bow at the neck is all he needs.

Circle Sleeve Tunic Top & Paper Bag Shorts Ensemble
This cute little ensemble is fairly easy to construct. The tunic top sleeves are full circles creating a very playful look. The body of the top is slightly flared with unpressed box pleats front and back that control the fullness at the neckline. Rickrack has been creatively employed to hem the sleeves and the tunic. Try lining the tunic with a second light weight fabric that is very close in colour e.g. hot pink and sharp melon for a very different look.
The shorts have turned up cuffs and patch pockets sewn on each leg. A ribbon or cord tie is threaded through the casing at the waist.
These two pieces can each be lengthened to make a mini dress or clam diggers or full-length longer pants respectively. See what other innovations you can make with this little pattern!

Buckleberry, A Princely Little Bear
Buckleberry is my little tribute to Baby Prince George! This sweet little bear has areas just begging for embellishment that should satisfy your every desire to create whether it is to smock, embroider, quilt or treat with heirloom laces and Swiss embroideries! There are so many ways to make him dependant only on the amount of time you have to spend. He is approximately 8” tall in his sitting position or approximately 12” standing but he is very easily enlarged to suit your wishes.
Buckleberry can be made in most any fabric from woven fabrics to knits to faux suede or fur. Just let your imagination go wild! Whether this is for a child or a bear collector or yourself, you are bound to have fun creating him and developing his personality.

He will probably look a little chubbier when made from a knit fabric as it tends to stretch a bit with stuffing. But that only makes him more cuddly and huggable!

Dolly Breeze - Zephyr
Dolly Breeze - Zephyr is the doll's version of the children's pattern, Little Breeze. All three views of this pattern feature the same square armhole bands as child's and adult's pattern, Summer Breeze. View A is knee length and smocked front and back with a ruffle neckline. View B is a full-length heirloom version that has a bodice band with an easy Swiss edge overlay in the front. This band can be tucked or embroidered or decorated with heirloom laces. View C is constructed of 12 colour coordinated skirt panels and is slightly longer than View A. The hem features playful Harlequin inspired picot points. The skirt can be of 'ice cream' colours or coordinating prints, stripes and checks. The bodice bands and armhole bands are cut in contrasting fabric. Be creative and have fun! This pattern is sized to fit the popular 18" - 19 1/2" vinyl dolls such as the American Girl Doll but it is easy to alter to fit other sizes of doll. Two smocking design plates are included. Why not make a mother/daughter/dolly set in matching or coordinating fabrics?

The Dolly's Judy
This dressmaker's form was designed to coordinate with the doll patterns, "Rosebud" and "Forget-me-not" from A Garden of Smocking Designs.

These integrated patterns for heirloom and smocking doll's clothing come in four sizes (12", 14", 16", and 18") and now you can have a dressmaker's form to match. All sizes included in one pattern. The Dolly's Judy is such a good way to save wear and tear on your favourite doll while designing and sewing her cloths. No more need to tie up her hair to protect her wig or to fight with the doll stand while trying to fit her. You can custom fit this pattern to your doll and work from there to design with her dress patterns.

Price: $5.00

"The Doll Clothes Collection"

This collection was created for doll collectors and children alike. There are five patterns in the series and each dress pattern contains two views plus an original slip pattern and smocking plate so now you can create a child's dress from the children's patterns and a doll's dress to match! The patterns are sized to fit the popular "American Girl Doll" but with a few alterations will fit many other 18" - 19½" vinyl or porcelain dolls. Updated construction techniques have been included in the patterns that can be used when making the children's dresses as well. The patterns contain touches of heirloom sewing to compliment the smocking. The trims of choice are French Val laces and Swiss embroideries. The dresses have been designed to be 'play friendly' with Velcro closings but can easily be convered to buttons or snaps. If you don't have a doll, there is a pattern for a dressmaker's judy and undergarments so that you can display your work. A general knowledge of sewing and smocking is required.
